Job Summary
Under direct supervision of the Tourism Operations Supervisor, the Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for visitors, employees, vendors, and tribal members at Taos Pueblo Tourism facilities and events. This position protects property, monitors visitor activity, enforces safety policies, and responds professionally to emergencies while providing exceptional customer service and respecting the cultural significance of Taos Pueblo.
Essential Functions
- Patrol tourism facilities, parking areas, and grounds on foot or by vehicle to ensure safety and security.
- Monitor entrances, exits, and visitor areas to prevent unauthorized access.
- Greet visitors in a courteous and professional manner while providing directions and assistance as needed.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, accidents, and suspicious activity.
- Complete incident, accident, and daily activity reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Enforce Tribal, departmental, and facility policies and procedures.
- Assist during special events by managing crowds, traffic, and access control.
- Monitor surveillance systems, alarms, and security equipment.
- Coordinate with Tribal Law Enforcement, emergency responders, and management when necessary.
- Provide first aid or CPR when certified and appropriate until emergency personnel arrive.
- Report maintenance or safety hazards that may impact visitors or staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, military, or customer service preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (if operating Tribal vehicles).
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to pass background screening and meet Tribal employment requirements.

Physical/Mental Demands
The Security Officer must be able to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.

The Security Officer works in both indoor and outdoor environments and may be exposed to varying weather conditions, crowds, and emergency situations. Professional appearance, sound judgment, and excellent customer service are essential to maintaining a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
